Samuel is believed to have been on the wagon train with his sisters, Sarah Jane and Mary Ann that came to Califonia 1853. Mahala came to California with her parents in 1847. Mahala Jane married Samuel Kelsey Hobbs in 1857 when she was 16 this was probably taken around that time.

Berdina Olive Hobbs - Howerton, daughter of Samuel & Mahala born 14 Apr 1867, in O'Neal, San Joaquin, California.

Not a lot of information available on Berdina Olive Hobbs - Howerton. She married Mattison Warren Howerton November 9,1887, had two children Harry Rollin and Alice Elsie. She died at an early age of 29 on June 5, 1896. The photo of the two girls is believed to be, Rosette Lee Hobbs, born 21 Nov 1869, she died also at an early age of 18, probably shortly after the photo was taken. All sisters of William Adrian Hobbs.
